Incorporating a Corporation in New Hampshire

Corporate Name Requirements

Name of New Hampshire's corporation should not be confused with any existing entity or reserved, registered or trade name. Company Express will research your company name to make sure it meets New Hampshire's standards.

Permitted designations: New Hampshire corporate names must contain one of the following words at the end of the name:

  • Corporation
  • Inc.
  • Incorporated
  • Limited
  • Ltd.
Restricted designations: The use of the following words in corporation's name will require approval by the state:
  • Bank
  • Banker
  • Bankers
  • Banking
  • Banks
  • Engineer
  • Engineered

  • Land Surveyor

Filing Requirements

Required documents: Articles of Incorporation and Addendum filed with the Department of State.

Turnaround time: About 10-30 business days.

Follow-up filings: Not required.

Officers/Directors Information

Minimum number: Minimum one director is required.

Director qualifications: No provisions.

Appearance in articles: Director names and addresses are not required to be listed in the Articles of Incorporation.

Principal office location / Registered Agent:

Corporation's principal office may be located outside of the state, but local registered agent is required.

Annual Reports

Time to file: Annual reports are due or before April 1. The State filing fee is $100.

Signatures: Only company officers or chairs of the board are authorized to sign annual reports. Emailed or faxed signatures are not accepted.

Filing extensions: Not permitted.
